The Heritage Market Bridal Fair: Review

This past Saturday, the Ruby team headed up to Hillcrest for a gander around the Heritage Market Bridal Fair. While we had seen a lot of exhibitors at the NWJ Bridal Fair earlier this year, there were some new one's that we thought were well worth a mention!

Settings Function Hire
This stall drew our attention for two reasons - firstly because its bang on trend (vintage styling, lace, bunting - could we ask for more?) and secondly, because its so beautifully and tastefully done. If its one thing we've learnt in the wedding industry it's that things can get very kitsch, very quickly. But clearly not from Settings Function Hire. They offer a full decor service, right from hiring out tables, chairs and cutlery, to doing your flowers, printed decor and extra bits and pieces. They cater to every couple and their tastes, creating custom decor just for you. We think they are the perfect vendors for destination weddings that aren't at a traditional venue, like farms, beach weddings, or outdoor receptions. This one-stop shop is fantastic and we really enjoyed their stall and their friendly staff.

You know that we're great fans of stationery and we love what Crystal Print does. Their work is unique, crafted with love and they offer a huge variety of different styles and aesthetics. We are certain that they would be able to make any couple's dream wedding invitation a reality. They offer a full stationery service - so you can get your Save the Dates, Invitations and other printed items done through them. They have many different techniques on offer, including laser cutting and wood engraving. Simply sublime!

The Wedding Assistant
We are so very excited about this great pocket size, dynamite-filled book and we have no clue how we missed them at the NWJ! The Wedding Assistant is a great A-Z book of all vendors and directories you could ever need for KZN. We find that a lot of brides struggle to find vendors that are different to what their friends always get, so this is great! The book not only features vendors in different categories, but it also offers you various tips about planning your big day - from dealing with bridesmaids to choosing the perfect hairstyle. And the best part? This handy little book is small and ready to snuggle right into your handbag - perfect for carrying around everywhere when inspiration hits! At only R80 a book - we think its a perfect bride-to-be's companion!

Cupcake Couture
Not to be confused with one of our favourite Durban based bloggers, Nadia, Cupcake Couture custom make cupcakes and cakes for any special occasion and to suit your needs and aesthetic. They do any events and will custom make decorations and cake toppers according to what you want. Their website is packed with loads of information about the services they offer, so check it out here. Cupcakes aren't their only order of business - they make party sweets, savouries and patisseries and gift boxes. Cupcake Couture are based in Kloof and offer a great variety of courses. These range from Mom and Kids Classes, Decorating Cupcakes, Introduction to Plastic Icing, Sugarcraft Flowers to Petit Fours. So if you have a baking itch to scratch, these are the people to turn to! For a full list of courses, click here. But they say the proof is in the pudding, and we think Cupcake Couture's pudding is top class. Kim and I both sampled the Chocolate Cupcakes (duh!) and they were delicious. Moist and packed with flavour - it took everything inside us to not gorge on all the other flavours!
