Weddings and engagements make us so happy. We're at that age where so many of our friends are picking out engagement rings and their men are whipping up amazing proposals - and it is such an exciting time in any couple's life. And with all these engagements comes the wedding planning... setting the date, choosing the venue, and of course our favourite part - the invitations! With so many of our friends getting engaged, we do love that as graphic designers we get requested to design their invitations.
About a month ago, I (Kim) was asked by my gorgeous friend Dominique for some help with designing her invitations and of course, I couldn't say no! Knowing Dom, I knew that she'd want something just like her: modern, simple and beautiful. She described the exact style she wanted (which is always great for a designer): grey, white and turquoise and not too much colour, a beautiful font and rectangular in size. I designed the invitation below, with a modern serif font in a modular layout, and with a simple branch, birds and bird cage illustrative motif.
All the important information couldn't fit on the invite itself, so with it we added an extra part where all the necessary information for guests would go. Their wedding reception will take place at Market, a gorgeous modern venue in Morningside, Durban.
