Happy Monday everyone! Last week we 'introduced' you to the
things you didn't know about Filipa, and today you're going to see the other half of the Ruby team. Introducing: Kim!
My loves: the beach, theme parks, travelling, owning a smart phone, giving someone a present that they love, making a messy space neat, helping people, my friends and family.
My loathes: arrogance, judgement, people who burp and fart in public, clowns, bad drivers, owning a smart phone, public toilets, the smell of rubbish bins!
Top destinations/favourite places: Phuket! I could holiday there every year if it was that easy.
Favourite places in Durban: the Umhlanga promenade, Beluga, Freedom Cafe
Guilty pleasures: Reality TV, white bread and 'slap' chips.
In my next life, I’d like to come back as… in the 1920's (so not really my next life, but whatever!). I'm absolutely obsessed with that era, and love the book The Great Gatsby, which was set in that time. It was a life of indulgence, jazz music, art deco, and redefined womanhood - and the outfits were just too divine!
10 interesting facts about yourself:
1. I like eating my food out of a bowl, not a plate.
2. I like eating food with a spoon and not a knife and fork.
3. I cannot sit normally for more than five minutes, as I like to sit cross-legged.
4. I am the most indecisive person I know.
5. I’m a crazy perfectionist.
6. I hate using sunscreen.
7. I’m a natural brunette.
8. I’ve recently acquired a taste for red wine and olives.
9. I cannot stand the taste of instant coffee.
10. I’m really not fond of people taking pictures of me individually.
11. I don’t like cold food.
A picture of somewhere you’ve been to: The Great Wall of China
Favourite super hero and why: Thor. He's not just a superhero, but the God of Thunder! I love ancient mythologies and Thor is the perfect mix of mythical stories and modern day comics.
Something you’re proud of in the past few weeks: The success of the first event I’ve organised - the Umhlanga night market, Market at the Square.
Songs you listen to when you are Happy, Sad, Bored, Hyped, Mad: This is so hard as I love so many! But here are a few:
Happy – Awake My Soul – Mumford & Sons
Sad – Boston – Augustana
Bored – America – Razorlight
Mad - Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey (although I am partial to the “Glee” version)
Something you crave for a lot: Freshly squeezed carrot and pineapple juice
What is something you're afraid of? Car accidents
What makes you smile? Spending a Sunday in bed; elderly couples holding hands; reminiscing about school days with my friends; thinking it's Sunday when it's only Saturday; finding the exact item I'm shopping for at the first shop I look at.
What is your favourite smell? I love the smell of anything that has been freshly baked.
If money was no object, what would you do tomorrow? Book a one-way ticket overseas and visit every country in the world.
What one thing would you change if you had to do it over? I believe that everything happens for a reason. Life doesn’t give you do-overs, so you have to accept everything you’ve done, make sure to learn the lesson its taught you and never do it again!
What is the habit you are proudest of breaking or want to break? I’m really proud that this year I’ve been able to break the habit of biting my nails and cuticles. It wasn’t easy I tell you!
Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate, no question about that. I would never, ever choose anything vanilla!
What is your favourite breakfast food? I’m not a big breakfast person, but my favourite breakfast meal is eggs benedict with salmon.
