Last weekend we spent two days at La Lucia Mall for their annual Bridal Fair, and it was an absolutely incredible experience!! We are officially all out of business cards and flyers. Phew, it was a busy weekend and we were pretty overwhelmed with the response we received!
We met so many delightful brides, grooms, and mums planning weddings, and who are interested in on-trend and custom-designed stationery. And that's exactly who we are and what we do! We are already busy working on two sets of stationery for couples we met last weekend - and we're anticipating many more to come.
With both of us being perfectionists, we had planned our display a month before the bridal fair - table mock up and everything. Most of the suppliers at the bridal fair were old-timers, and had been involved in weddings for years, but this was the first time that we would be involved in something that actually promotes our business. It was scary, but so much more exciting. Our table was set up the night before the fair as we didn't want anything to go wrong on the morning. This ended up being the best thing to do, and we arrived fresh on Saturday morning with coffees in hand, ready for an exciting weekend. The only things that went wrong were that we couldn't find the proteas we wanted (being Valentine's day and all!) and we ran out of flyers on the first day - so our planning paid off! :)
Stationery is not the easiest thing to display, and while we wanted to display a wide range of our stationery so that it appealed to everyone and showed exactly what we can do, we also wanted our table to look cohesive (and pretty). Placing thirty invitations flat onto a table was just not going to do it for us, and we spent a long time trying to make an appealing and beautiful display. To finish off our presentation, we hung 'floating' Ruby + Swallow bunting behind us, with white helium balloons on either side to attract people. We just loved the final product, and received so many compliments! Below are some pictures we took of our display.
Thank you to everyone who came to see us and say hello, and a big thank you to those of you we met at the fair. What a weekend it was! The bridal fair also helped us launch our first Ruby + Swallow online newsletter; if you're interested, read it here.
