A Baby Shower for a Little Boy on the Way!

Remember this wedding that we featured a few months ago? Well the happy couple is expecting their first child in September and last weekend the baby shower was held in honour of the mommy to be, Shan, and the sweet baby boy that's on his way. Shan's sister, Sam, put together this party with a Peter Rabbit theme and a colour palette of greys and blues. When she asked us to help design the invitation and other printed goods for the party, we couldn't say no. With such a beautiful theme to work with, creating decor was so easy. The digital invitations were emailed to guests, and three versions were made, with each version either asking the guest to bring something savoury, something sweet or something to drink to the party. We created small invites with a Peter Rabbit motif and an elegant grey shape to contain the wording. We made sure to include the theme of the baby's room, so that guests knew what to buy for the little one.

One of the main decor items that we made for this shower was a banner. The banner was made up of several cut out circles spelling "It's a boy!". We printed these on a slightly glittered white paper, and Sam punched holes into each circle and strung them up with matching blue ribbon. This is something really simple to make, and is so effective either hung on a wall, like this one was, or hung on a food table.
We found a great idea for a wish jar for the baby here, and we decided that this was a special way of getting everyone in the shower involved in imparting some sort of wisdom to the baby. Each person was handed a scroll that had a sentence on it that they had to complete. The sentences were things like "I hope you aren't afraid...", "I hope you never forget...", "I hope you become..". Once guests had written their messages to the baby, they were placed back in the jar for Shan to scrap book later. A board was made of guests baby pictures and Mommy Shan had to guess who they were - a great game and a lot of fun to watch!
What's a good party without some food labels? We made a few different variations of food labels - some with a Peter Rabbit picture, some saying "Baby Hanafey" and others saying "Hooray". These are always great fun and they add that extra special touch to any table. Sam added the finishing touches to the table with an overlay of Hessian and a PERFECT carrot cake with a Peter Rabbit toy placed on top - how cute does it look?
