We thought we’d do something today on the blog that we haven’t done before. Its Kim here, and I’m going to show you the wedding invitation of my lovely soon-to-be-married friends Liesa and Ryan. When Liesa posted a sneak peek of it on Facebook, I pretty much squealed in delight as I thought it was so cute and quirky, and so them. After catching up with them a few weekends ago, I told them that I’d love to do a post on their invitation – and they happily obliged.
Liesa and Ryan own Rollin Vintage – remember we did this post on them? They are very artsy-crafty and hands-on, and so I wouldn’t have expected anything less from their wedding invitations. They own this beautiful blue typewriter, and wanted to incorporate it into their wedding somehow. Their wedding theme is vintage (how could it not be with what they do?) and so the typewriter fitted perfectly. The invitations were designed by Heather Pattenden, one of Liesa’s bridesmaids, who is doing her Masters in Printmaking and is wanting to start her own stationery line.
With just a photograph, Heather understood their typewriter idea exactly, which Liesa says she magically made into beautiful invitations. The couple decided not to do wedding favours, but instead were after something more personal. Their love for handmade arts translated perfectly onto these invites; each piece is a postcard with heart accents, and they are all signed and editioned, making each of them real pieces of art for family and friends. The invites were all silkscreen printed onto Kraft brown card, and the hearts and the white highlights were hand-painted – Liesa was able to be involved in the process by painting all the hearts.
Heather is in the process of starting her own stationery line, so you can contact her on firstname.lastname@example.org or is 078 379 6525 if you are interested in her services.
